Pottery Day Out

In April, Hospital Homebound and Outreach students had the chance to try something totally new: throwing clay on a pottery wheel! Our outing involved taking the Canada line downtown, having a pottery class in a cool studio and then a fancy lunch. Overall a great day.

For some of our students, traditional neighbourhood schools aren’t always the right fit—and that’s okay. Whether it’s due to medical needs or other personal circumstances, we’re here to offer support in a way that works for them.

Our programs go beyond just obtaining credits. We’re working to create meaningful experiences that promote connection, personal growth and health. Pottery was one example—messy, tactile but engaging and fun.

Students showed up with open minds and left with muddy hands and big smiles. This is what alternative education can look like—supportive, flexible, and full of heart.
