Increasing individual connection and accountability
At Station Stretch, our focus on student attendance and engagement indicated that we can do better in terms of our policies and structures around attendance. In addition, we have been working with the new reporting order, and wondering how we might communicate student learning more clearly to students and more actively engage students in the goal-setting and assessment process. Our team came together in June to think about possibilities at our site. As a result, as of September, we have assigned a case manager teacher to each student. This case manager will work to foster an individual connection with each student in the Station Stretch program. The case manager is responsible for weekly connections with each student to discuss progress and to engage in goal-setting for the week.
