Literacy is for everyone — everywhere

For some students, coming to school every day is not always possible. But learning does not stop there. Literacy still matters, and students still deserve opportunities to grow as readers.

Sometimes that means bringing instruction directly to students through programs like  Hospital Homebound. It also means recognizing that literacy can look different for different learners, including students with diverse learning needs, disabilities, and exceptionalities.

An action that we have taken to support our school's learning focus is to use diverse literacy resources and strategies to engage learners, including visuals, text features and adapted activities. When we make literacy accessible, flexible, and inclusive, we help ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
