Outreach

The Community Outreach Program serves a caseload of secondary students who are not enrolled in a Richmond School.  Because the program only offers students a part-time schedule, Outreach teachers have had the most success in working with older students who have the opportunity to transfer to the Adult Grad program, or who are only a few courses away from graduating.

The Community Outreach Program serves youth who experience learning, mental health and/or behavioural challenges. Outreach teachers also work closely with MCFD, Mental Health, Probation, and other community agencies, in supporting these students' transition to district educational services. They are also available for follow-up support for any Outreach students returning to community schools. Decisions regarding educational programs are best made and implemented in collaboration with parents, students and educators.

Outreach teachers can be accessed directly, by phone or email, to determine the appropriateness of the requested services. It is important to note that students, who work with Outreach teachers are no longer enrolled at their neighbourhood school, but are enrolled with the Community Outreach Program.
